Heidi du Preez is a Professional Natural Scientist, who obtained her masters degree (M.Sc. Agric) in Food Science. She graduated in South Africa from the University of Pretoria and post-graduated from the University of the Free State in 1995. Heidi worked in the food industry for six years as a food scientist.
While living in the UK from 1997 to 2000, and as a food scientist with a personal interest in health and nutrition, Heidi started to study and specialise in natural health. During this time, through extensive research and diligently following specific nutritional practices, she healed herself of Candidiasis. Heidi has learned the value of balanced wholefood nutrition and a healthy lifestyle, and it is now her passion to share this knowledge with others.
Heidi is currently specialising in Nutritional Therapy. She is studying towards a BSc-degree in Nutritional Medicine. She has obtained a diploma in Nutrition and also lectured in Nutrition at a Health and Beauty Institute. Heidi holds a diploma in Colon Hydrotherapy and certificates in Iridology and Massage Therapy.
Heidi has experience in lecturing post-graduate students and in the compilation and presentation of workshops, seminars and lectures. She has written several publications on scientific and general matters. She currently writes for The South African Journal of Natural Medicine and serves on the panel of experts. Heidi has been on the Council of the South African Association for Nutritional Therapy (SAANT) since it’s inauguration in 2007. Heidi is the author of the health recipe book Natural Medicine Magazine’s Wholefood Cook book.
Heidi consults to both the food and health industry. She uses a holistic, functional medicine approach, incorporating diet, wholefood supplementation, detoxification and spiritual well-being into her treatment regimen. She does not believe in recommending or following a specific diet fad, prefering her own tailor-made health discipline, incorporating concepts which are relevant to her scientific background as well as her holistic approach. Heidi does not ‘practice what she preaches’, but rather ‘preaches what she practices’ and follows the philosophy of simplicity and returning to the basics of good food, good thoughts and good health.
