Nutritional Therapist, Heidi du Preez, is based in Knysna, in the heart of the Garden Route, Western Cape. Consultations at her practice are available by appointment only.
Heidi applies Nutritional Therapy principles in her practise and specialises in the treatment of Cancer, Candidiasis, M.E., Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, digestive disorders like Ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, IBS, Constipation and more. She has a special interest in pedeatric nutrition, i.e. infant and toddler feeding, Autism, ADD and ADHD.
Heidi follows a functional medicine approach that embraces both objective and subjective information. To treat chronic diseases effectively, one needs to think out of the box. This different way of thinking seeks for the underlying metabolic processes that have gone awry and try to correct those. Heidi treats the underlying imbalances or dysfunctions and the root causes of the problem as opposed to just suppressing symptoms.
Heidi spends time with her patients, listening to their histories and evaluating the interactions among genetic, environmental, social and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and complex, chronic disease. In this way, Heidi supports the unique expression of health and vitality for each individual. She will create a customized and comprehensive treatment plan best suited for each patient’s needs.
The first consultation lasts for 90+ minutes and involves a thorough health history, an explanation of potential health imbalances and a discussion of nutritional strategies to proceed with. Follow-up consultations are normally 1 to 4 weeks later and involve further refinement of your diet, potential use of nutritional supplements and laboratory testing if necessary.
Education and support is a major part of the consultation. If you need ongoing support to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle, then Heidi is available to answer your questions for a period of 3 months after your first consultation.
