Water filters
Water Filters – Carbon & KDF
Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) is the most common method of water filtration. Better quality GAC filters include KDF (Kinetic Degradation Fluxion) in the system.
GAC has a slight electro-positive charge added to it. It is probably the most powerful absorbent available, hence the popular use with water filtration.
It is most effective in the removal of organic compounds including VOC’s (volatile gasses), radon, chlorine and trihalomethanes. It is a very cost effective form of filtration. It does not remove fluoride.
KDF is a high purity copper-zinc formula. Through a process known as redox, KDF is able to remove chlorine, lead, iron, mercury and hydrogen sulphide from water. It also has a mild anti-bacterial algaecide and fungicidal effect and reduces the accumulation of lime scale.
It is often selected for use in shower filters because of its effectiveness in hot water, and as a pre-filter to multiple filtration systems e.g. Reverse Osmosis and under and above counter filters. It does not remove fluoride.
AlphaAqua Single Counter top filter
