Kefir-Berry smoothie

Serves 4
2 cups (500 ml) kefir
2 to 3 ripe organic bananas, peeled
1 cup (250 ml) fresh or frozen berries
½ cup (125 ml) pitted dates
1 tablespoon (15 ml) raw honey, or to taste
1 teaspoon (5 ml) pure vanilla extract (optional)
1 tablespoon (15 ml) organic virgin coconut oil (optional)
1 cup (250 ml) ice cubes

Blend all the ingredients in a power blender until smooth.

(There is no clear scientific evidence that the blades of a blender will destroy the beneficial bacteria within the kefir. However, if it is a concern, the kefir could be gently mixed in with the rest of the ingredients after blending.)
